Steve Clark and Jane Huesemann represent nearly 50 years of combined experience; planning and designing environments in educational, civic and community settings spanning the United States. We have worked together for the past 19 years and can provide a wide range of planning, design and architectural services to a variety of clients. Clark | Huesemann provides a high degree of personal attention to each client with hands-on Principal involvement in every aspect of every project.
We believe in the power of design to affect positive change in the use and experience of built environments. We work with clients to discover how they might maximize the use of their facilities to be more effective, and the experience of their environments to be rich and humane.
LEED accreditation is something we have taken to heart since 2006, and have the experience and ability to deliver super green, "smart" energy saving designs utilizing common, tested and cost effective strategies. Our firm is a member of the 2030 Challenge, focusing our efforts on energy reduction in all the buildings we design.
As a small, focused practice we have the ability to perform “on the ground” research and ethnography. Our ethnographic research involves direct observation and a way of looking at the use of environments that reveals truths about how people and organizations function in their current space, and provides insight into how a new or renovated facility might improve the “work” of that group. Through this observation we often begin to know more about clients than they know about themselves.
We provide a fresh and energetic approach to design, backed by experience that delivers highly functional, durable and sustainable environments. In working this way, we creatively go beyond the typical approach of solving apparent problems to discovering and realizing unforeseen opportunities for our clients.
